Choose where your team's email goes
Your team’s email (build results, form submissions, receipts, usage warnings) goes to the team Owner unless you give the team its own address, such as a shared ops@example.com inbox. Set it under Team → Notifications.
Only Owners and Admins can change the address, and your own account email has to be confirmed first. To change the address you sign in with, see change your account email. Members and Viewers see where mail goes, with the address partly hidden (o***@example.com).
Set a team address
Section titled “Set a team address”- Go to Team → Notifications and type the address in Team address.
- Press Save in the bar at the bottom.
What happens next depends on whose address it is:
- A team member’s own confirmed address takes effect at once. The page says “Team mail now goes to” that address. Use a member’s address under the field lists these, so you can pick one instead of typing it.
- Any other address gets an email with a confirmation link first. Until someone clicks it, team mail keeps going where it went before, and the page shows the address as waiting for confirmation.
Every Owner, and the previous address, is told whenever the address is changed or confirmed.
The team address receives form submissions, including everything your visitors type into your forms. Pick an inbox the right people can read.
Confirm the address
Section titled “Confirm the address”The person who reads that inbox opens the email and chooses one of two links:
- Confirm: team mail goes to the address from then on.
- I didn’t ask for this: nothing is sent to it, the team’s Owners are told, and the team cannot request that address again. A team member can still set it later as their own confirmed address.
Opening a link changes nothing until one of the buttons is pressed, so a mail scanner that follows links cannot confirm or decline for you. A link works once, for 3 days.
Didn’t get the email? Press Resend link next to the waiting address. One link goes out per hour at most, and an address gets at most 3 confirmation emails a day across all teams, so the page cannot tell you whether a new one was sent. Press Cancel change to drop the request; the current address stays in place.
See who gets each email
Section titled “See who gets each email”The Who gets what table on the same page lists, for each kind of email, the addresses it goes to right now:
| Goes to | |
|---|---|
| Builds started by a push, usage limits, paused schedules | The team address, or the Owner when there is none |
| Form submissions, from forms that pick nobody | The team address, or the Owner |
| Receipts and plan changes | The team address, or the Owner |
| Failed payments, secrets found in a deploy, suspension, deletion, changes to the team address | Every Owner and the team address |
The last row is always sent: a team address never takes these away from the Owners. A build someone starts from the dashboard, the CLI or the API emails that person, and a form that picks members emails them.
Each switch further down the page turns one email off for the whole team. Members can change the switches, except A payment fails, which only an Admin or Owner can change.
When the team address stops working
Section titled “When the team address stops working”If mail to the team address bounces, is reported as spam, or its reader declines or unsubscribes, deploybase stops sending to it, tells the Owners, and sends team mail to the Owner instead. The page says so in amber: “Mail to … bounced, was reported as spam or was turned down by its owner”. Set a different address to fix it.
A team address that is not a member’s own gets an unsubscribe option in every email (your mail app shows it next to the sender). Using it removes the address from the team and tells the Owners.
Limits
Section titled “Limits”- 5 changes to the team address per team per day.
- 3 confirmation emails per team per day, and 3 per address per day across all teams.
- 1 hour between confirmation emails for one team.
