Edge delivery region
Every request to a site on deploybase is answered by an edge server of our CDN, Bunny.net. That server terminates the HTTPS connection, so it sees the visitor’s IP address and user agent. The edge delivery region decides which of those servers may answer.
EEA only, the default
Section titled “EEA only, the default”By default, only edge locations in the European Economic Area answer: the EU plus Iceland and Norway. This applies to production sites on *.sites.deploybase.eu, to previews, and to every custom domain added since the setting existed.
Visitors outside the EEA still reach the site. Their request travels to the nearest location in the EEA, so they wait longer for the first byte than they would from a nearby edge. The United Kingdom and Switzerland are outside the EEA, so their visitors are answered from a neighbouring country too.
The routing holds under normal operating conditions, which is how Bunny.net words its commitment.
Worldwide, for a custom domain
Section titled “Worldwide, for a custom domain”A custom domain can be switched to worldwide delivery, which lets any of Bunny.net’s edge locations answer. Visitors far from Europe get a faster first byte, and their IP address and user agent are processed in the country of the location that answers.
Choose worldwide when most of a site’s visitors are outside Europe and none of your own commitments require requests to stay in the EEA. The production address on *.sites.deploybase.eu and previews are always EEA only.
Custom domains that existed before EEA-only delivery became the default were left on worldwide delivery, so that nothing changed without notice. Check each of yours and switch it if you want the EEA only.
What the setting does not cover
Section titled “What the setting does not cover”- Who can visit. The region decides where requests are answered, not who may send them. To allow or block visitors by country, use country filtering on the domain.
- DNS. Lookups for site domains are answered by Bunny.net’s global DNS network, wherever the resolver is.
- Your published files. The storage that holds them is in Germany, with copies in New York, Singapore and São Paulo. They hold only what you published.
- Access logs. Bunny.net keeps the raw access log of each site for 3 days, stored in Germany, whichever region answers. Site analytics keeps daily totals only, without IP addresses or user agents.
The privacy policy and the data processing agreement state the same terms.
To switch a domain, see Choose where a custom domain is served from.
